Why your review count differs from the source

Google says 47, JustReview says 40. This is the single most common question we get, and in most cases nothing is broken. Platforms count reviews differently than we can import them.

Reasons the numbers differ

Ratings without text. A one-click five-star rating with no written review is imported and counted, but a testimonials widget has nothing to display for it. Some widgets also have an option to hide empty reviews. So your dashboard total can be right while a widget shows fewer.

Time windows, and this one is permanent. Some sources only expose recent reviews rather than the full history. Trusted Shops is the clearest case: its API returns only the last 365 days. The number on your Trusted Shops profile is the all-time total, while we can only ever hold what we collected while the connection was live.

Two consequences worth understanding:

  • Reviews older than a year at the moment you first connected were never available to us.
  • If the connection was broken for a period, the reviews from that period fall out of the window permanently. This is why reconnecting a dead source quickly matters: every week of downtime is a week of reviews you cannot get back through the connector.

Different review types on one platform. Amazon is the clearest example: seller feedback and product reviews are separate things, in separate places, and a single connector does not necessarily bring both.

Sync delay. Imports run in the background on a schedule, not the second a review is posted. A review from this morning may appear later today or tomorrow. On the slower sources it can take noticeably longer.

Your plan limit. Free 100, Plus 1000, Pro 10 000, Ultimate 20 000 reviews in total across all sources. Once you hit the ceiling, new reviews stop being imported. If your count is suspiciously close to a round number like 100 or 1000, this is almost certainly why.

Reviews you hid yourself. On Ultimate you can switch individual reviews off in All reviews. Hidden reviews still exist in your account but do not show in widgets.

The widget shows a subset by design. Each widget has its own Services selection and can be limited to certain sources, ratings or languages. The dashboard total and what a specific widget displays are two different numbers.

When it IS a real problem

Get in touch if any of these apply:

  • The gap is large, for example we show 133 and the platform has 403.
  • Your newest review is weeks old while the platform keeps receiving new ones. That usually means the connection expired, see reviews stopped updating.
  • The count is stuck at exactly 100 on a paid plan. This has been a real bug on some sources in the past, not just a limit.

Recovering history you already lost

For sources with a time window, reviews that fell outside it cannot be re-imported through the connector. There is one way back: export them from the source platform and import the CSV (available from the Plus plan).

Write to [email protected] with the source name, the number you see in JustReview and the number on the platform. We can look up your account directly and tell you which of the reasons above applies.
