Add Google Reviews to Squarespace

You add Google reviews to Squarespace by connecting your Google Business Profile to a reviews tool, then pasting the three-line HTML snippet it gives you into a Code Block or into Settings, Advanced, Code Injection. Squarespace runs JavaScript in those blocks only on the Core plan and above, so on the Personal plan the snippet will not execute. The reviews then refresh on their own every 24 hours.

The part every other guide leaves out: your Squarespace plan

Code Block and Code Injection accept HTML on every Squarespace plan, but JavaScript and iframes need Core or higher (Business or higher on 7.0 sites). A reviews widget is JavaScript, so on the Personal plan it will sit there and do nothing, with no error message. Check your plan before you pick a tool, because no widget on the market gets around this: it is a Squarespace limit, not a limit of the widget.

How to add Google reviews to Squarespace, in three steps

  1. Connect the Google Business Profile you manage. You sign in with Google and grant access to a profile you already own. No API key, no Place ID, no quota to watch. It also means you can only import reviews of your own business, which is the point.
  2. Pick a layout and copy three lines of HTML. A script tag, a settings block and the container. The panel previews the layout with your own reviews, so you are not choosing from sample text.
  3. Paste it into a Code Block, or into Code Injection for the whole site. A Code Block puts the reviews on one page where you drop it. Code Injection (Settings, Advanced) puts the script on every page, which is what you want for a floating badge. Step by step, with screenshots, is in the guide linked below.

What Squarespace sites actually do with it

On 4 August 2026 we identified the platform behind every site running our widget: 449 of 632 hosts answered, and 16 of them were Squarespace. It is a small group next to WordPress, and it behaves differently: Squarespace sites are service businesses far more often than shops, so Google and Facebook cover almost everything they need and marketplace sources barely appear.

Three things that go wrong on Squarespace, and what they mean

Where to put the reviews on a Squarespace site

Squarespace sites are usually service businesses, so the reviews are doing one job: proving you are real before someone fills in the contact form. Three placements earn their space. Directly under the hero on the home page, where a first-time visitor is still deciding whether to scroll. On the page that describes the service they came for, not on a separate testimonials page nobody clicks. And immediately above the contact or booking block, because that is the moment the doubt is largest. The floating badge is the exception: it goes site-wide through Code Injection and stays out of the layout entirely, which is why it is the layout we give away for free.

Squarespace Extensions has no Google reviews extension

Unlike WordPress or Shopify, there is no marketplace listing to compare this against. The extensions Squarespace lists for reviews are product review tools for Commerce stores, which is a different job: they collect reviews of items you sell, they do not import the reviews of your business from Google. That is why every result on this search is a third-party widget pasted as code.

Both layouts, running on this page

Not a screenshot and not a mockup. The carousel below and the floating badge in the corner are both loaded by the same script you would paste into your Squarespace site. On your site they would show your Google reviews, in exactly these layouts. Here the badge shows our Google rating and the carousel shows our reviews from Capterra, G2 and Facebook, because that is where our English-speaking customers wrote and we would rather show you real ones than a mockup. The badge is the free layout; the carousel starts on Plus, 9 EUR a month, which is exactly the difference this page keeps talking about.

Questions people ask about Google reviews on Squarespace

Can I embed my Google reviews into my website?
Yes. Google does not offer an official embeddable reviews block, so you connect your Business Profile to a reviews tool and paste the snippet it generates. The reviews stay in sync with your profile, so a new review shows up without you editing the page.
How do I add reviews on Squarespace?
Two paths, and they are not the same. Squarespace Commerce has native product reviews for items you sell. Reviews of your business from Google, Facebook or a marketplace are not built in: those you add as code, in a Code Block or through Code Injection.
Is there a free way to add Google reviews to Squarespace?
Yes, with limits worth knowing before you sign up. The JustReview free plan covers Google and Facebook, up to 100 stored reviews, refreshed every 24 hours, and gives you the floating badge layout. The carousel that shows review text starts on a paid plan. You still need a Squarespace plan that runs JavaScript.
Do I need a Business plan for Squarespace code injection?
For JavaScript, yes: Code Injection and JavaScript inside a Code Block require Core or higher on current Squarespace plans, and Business or higher on older 7.0 sites. Plain HTML works everywhere, but a reviews widget is JavaScript.
Why do my Google reviews not show in the Squarespace editor?
Because the editor does not run third-party JavaScript while you edit. Save and open the live page. If it is empty there too, check the plan, your cookie consent tool and whether the container is on the same page as the script.
How many Google reviews can I show on Squarespace for free?
Up to 100 stored reviews on the free plan. Above that the widget shows what fits and nothing is deleted; raising the limit is a plan change. Page views, visitors and domains are unlimited on every plan, including the free one.
